Designed by Henri Dupont, the French air service never adopted this aircraft, choosing the Nieuport 17 instead. However the Belgian and Italian air services saw the potential of this highly manoeuvrable fighter.
Willy Coppens became Belgium's highest scoring "ace" of World war one flying the plane depicted by this model.
