Paperwarbirds less-stress, less-mess
|
|
Hanriot HD2 Hydravion de Chasse. (Fighter seaplane) |
|
Paperwarbirds currently offer five versions of the HD2
floatplane. You can see Number 265 built by following
this link;
The French Maritime Air Service rejected the HD.1,
but did accept some HD.2 floatplanes. These had upgraded 130 hp Clerget rotary
engines in place of the earlier aircraft's 110 hp Le Rhone. Steering became a
problem, which was overcome by enlarging the rudder to ensure greater
lateral stability. Armament was upgraded too, with twin 7.7mm calibre
Vickers water cooled machine guns.
|
|

The United States Navy also flew the HD.2 during and after the
war, with most of these aircraft fitted with conventional landing gear in place
of the floats. Some were flown from the decks of USS Texas.

The following pictures have been kindly taken by Raimund
Kelterer of Austria showing his superb build of one of our HD2 kits. I
hope more photos will become available as he continues to build.
Raimund is a member of cardmodels.net
where more photos of his well built models can be seen. Many thanks
Raimund for the use of your photos.
